STOK Disaster Preparedness Kit

STOK is a disaster preparedness kit designed for a broad and diverse demographic in mind. Having experiences of mass earthquakes, I am very aware of the importance of disaster preparedness as well as concerns living in the west coast.

The purpose of this project was to design a suite of packages that people from any background would feel comfortable in purchasing and carrying out under situations when the kit is needed.

Process

Growing up in a country with frequent earthquakes, I noticed the lack of preparedness for unexpected disasters here in the Puget Sound region. The cause of the unpreparedness is that the options of preparedness kits are very limited and complicated, therefore I tasked myself to create a suite that is simple, easy-to-understand, and approachable. In order to achieve that, I tried to incorporate the idea of universal design as well as having multiple languages on the packages, including braille.
